Holiday 23 Things

I found a few sites over the holidays that were really neat. I was able to look up and record books I am reading and share with friends via Goodreads. I loved being able to share my love of books and see what everyone is reading. I also made myself into a cartoon which I will post soon. That was funny. Millie loved that Mommy was a cartoon and I hope to use it in a story for my autism certification plan that I am working on at the moment.

23 THINGS WITH TEAM 7-1

I've been also doing 23 Things with my team. Personally that has really been very insightful to me. I enjoy being able to discuss the different technologies and how they are or could be incorporated into lessons and across subjects.

We've all found our own niches and where we excel and can help each other out. I like that.

Wordle

Loved this! I put in some of my favorite scripture and loved the way it came out. I can see this application being used in a poetry unit to create a really unique product.

Cartoon Creator

Have I had a blast with this! I made a cartoon me and am going to star in some social stories to use in class. I will try to figure out how to post one once I've made it.

Google Reader

I subscribed to several feeds and have begun to read them. I found I am so engrossed in some of them that a few hours had passed without my realizing it!

I've also learned not to complain too much about our numbers, conditions, materials, etc. When you read about some places in our country, we have it pretty darn good here in Round Rock. I am very thankful for that.

I am finding it interesting to read what other special educators are doing in other parts of the country especially with the No Child Left Behind legislation in place. We all seem to be facing the same delimas of educating children with high needs and working to find the best way to make sure they have access to everything. I am getting some ideas and hope to continue to find more that will help me as this year progresses.

Blogging in the Classroom

I don't have my own "class" but am hoping to piggyback if someone else decides to do this with their students. I like the idea of it being attached to my teacher web page. I may actually try this with my afterschool game club and see how that would work. I know I have several students who want to set up their chess partners ahead of time and this could be a great place to discuss strategy, etc.

I'm still playing around with ideas...

Getting Started

I am getting started with my 23 things...I've read the quotes for the first week and am looking at the other activities that are available.

I think I want to start out with the reader and finding some resources that will strengthen my teaching especially as it relates to services for students with autism.

I'll keep you posted.
